We will be playing in the "Top of Utah" American Legion Baseball league again this year. It's a good league and very competitive. The teams are basically required to field both a younger and an older team with a couple exceptions. It suits our needs very well in that we can basically make our own schedule. The travel is a downside, but the league plays all doubleheaders so it makes it worth the trip when we do travel.
The schedule for our summer teams have been set. Both teams will play a 16 game schedule with the AA team having the opportunity to qualify for the American Legion State Tournament. You can access the schedules under the link for Grantsville American Legion Baseball on the right side of this blog, then click on the individual team for the schedule. The AA team is the older kids & the single A is for the younger kids (FYI: Anyone that is coming back next year is elible to play on the younger team, everyone born after January 1, 1990 is eligible to play on the older team).
The only games that must be verified would be the Clearfield games for both the AA & A teams. They are new to the league and have been accepted. Those 4 games are tentative, updates will be posted immediately if they need to be changed.
How important is playing in the summer and do I have to play? Playing in the summer is not a requirement but let me give you a couple facts. This is my 4th year as head coach. During this time we have had only one player that has started our final game of the season that did not participate the previous summer. The summer is critical to each players development. Failure to participate and gain that experience allows someone else to do so in your place. I can't express enough, the importance of summer baseball and improving and gaining experience as a player.
We will set up a player/parent meeting in the next couple of weeks to start preparing for the summer season. If you have questions now you can contact me or post a comment on the blog.
Before we start looking too far ahead though, let's FINISH WHAT WE STARTED!!!!!

I second the last bold comment at the end of the article. We know we can beat anyone in our region once but lets see if we can do it twice. Get after it, have fun, and win. Bring home a region championship and lets finally really earn some respect from around the state. Play every game as if we'll be playing for the region title. because you don't know if it could be or not. GET IT DONE! any way necessary.
