Grantsville improved to 3-0 in Region 11 play as they held on to defeat Logan 6-5 at Cowboy Field. Benji Cole threw a masterful game striking out 12 as he went the distance to get the win on the bump for the the Cowboys. Grantsville started quickly scoring 5 runs in the first inning. Ryley Boman led off the inning with a single and scored on a Tyson Hutchins double. Alex Childs beat out an infield single and then a Logan error allowed Hutchins to score. After a fielders choice Jake Campbell singled in a run followed by an Andrew Nelson RBI single. Leading 5-1 the Cowboys tacked on what proved to be the game winning run in the 5th inning. Kort Fonger led off with a walk, Taylor Matthews laid down a bunt as both runners were safe on a Logan error. Jake Campbell then beat out another bunt attempt to load the bases. After one out was recorded Andrew Nelson hit a hard shot at the drawn in infield to score a run before the Grizzlies recorded two outs on the base paths. Things got interesting in the 7th inning as Logan mounted a rally to pull within 6-5 before Cole stuck out the final Logan hitter to end the game in thrilling fashion with the tying run on 3rd base.
The Cowboys don't get anytime to enjoy the win as we prepare to take on Ben Lomond at Cowboy field at 3:30. Come on out to the ballpark and enjoy some exciting baseball.
