Grantsville jumped out to a 3-0 lead early only to have the Miners come from behind and hand the Cowboys an 11-4 loss to open the 2010 season.
The year got off to a positive start as Andrew Nelson retired the side in order in the top of the first. In the Cowboys half of the inning the first 3 hitters all reached base. Jake Campbell came up with the bases loaded and lined a ball off the pitcher that went straight to the second baseman. The play resulted in 2 runs, but the Park City pitcher was able to work out of the inning with no more damage.
In the second, Kellan Rhoades singled with one out. He moved to second on a passed ball and to third on a Bridger Boman single. Kort Fonger drove him in with an RBI single to spot the Cowboys a 3-0 lead.
In the third Lincoln Kelley singled with 2 outs and scored as Kelbey Fisher doubled off the CF wall to help Grantsville regain the lead 4-3. Unfortunately that was the end of the scoring for the Cowboys. Grantsville played well defensively and was able to get a lot of pitchers some work as we used 5 pitchers during the contest.
