Andrew Nelson fired a one hitter striking out 10 to carry the Cowboys to a 10-0 victory over cross county rival Tooele. 8th Grader also helped his own cause at the plate as he came up with 2 hits and 2 rbi's on the day.
After getting in some trouble in the first inning the Cowboys worked themselves out of the inning by throwing out a runner at the plate on a double steal. Nelson then ended the inning by striking out the next 2 Buffalo hitters. Nelson kept the door closed for Tooele the rest of the afternoon only surrenduring 1 hit.
The Cowboys got the bats going by rapping out 12 hits on the day including 3 doubles and a 2 run home run by Tyson Hutchins. Kort Fonger had 2 hits for Grantsville including a double and Connor Turner chipped in offensively with 2 hits including an rbi double. Taylor Matthews had the final extra base hit for Grantsville as he hit a walk off double down the left field line to drive in the 10th run for the Cowboys.
Next up is a trip to Happy Valley as Grantsville is set to take on Maple Mountain on Thursday. The Cowboys will be back home on Friday to take on the Woods Cross Wildcats. Both games are set to begin at 3:30.
