The Cowboys got off to a great start as we posted 3 runs in the top of the first inning, keyed by an RBI single by Alex Childs. Payeton Reed also drove in a run on a fielders choice. Unfortunately the lead was short lived as Woods Cross put across 1 run in the second and then 6 more in the third, as we struggled to slow down the Woods Cross offensive attack. Grantsville hit the ball hard most of the day but everything seemed to be right at a Wildcat. Kort Fonger had 2 hits on the day for Grantsville.
As a side note Alex Whitbeck threw a great game on the mound for the Cowboys in the JV game.
The Cowboys will look to turn their fortunes around back at home as we host the fourth largest high school in the state, the Davis Darts, at 11 AM Saturday morning. We will also be in action against the defending 3A state champions, the Judge Memorial Bulldogs, Monday at 3 PM. Come on out to the ballpark and see how the Cowboys fair against some quality opponents.
