Cowboys suffer embarrassing loss to Tooele 7-6

With the bases loaded 2 outs and a full count on the hitter Tooele scored 2 runs on a Cowboy error to take the game away from Grantsville.

Tooele got on top early in their half of the first scoring 4 runs after Grantsville made an error with 2 outs. Grantsville battled their way back to tie the game at 4-4 in the fourth inning. Tooele took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth before the Cowboys were able to score twice in the top half of the seventh to take a one run lead. Benji Cole threw well for the Cowboys going 6 innings, striking out 7 while allowing 1 earned run. Alex Childs had 3 hits for Grantsville while Kort Fonger drove in 2 runs.

I am embarrassed by the behavior of myself, our players, and coaches after 3 controversial calls by the umpires. The type of behavior exhibited by our program is not what I want Cowboys Baseball to be known for. On behalf of the school & the program I would like to apologize to our fans and all baseball fans that witnessed the outburst.

Grantsville will look to get the bad taste out of their mouths as they are scheduled to travel to West Valley to face Hunter on Thursday at 3:30.
