It was a disappointing start to the season for the Cowboys. Park City posted two 5-run innings to defeat the Cowboys 13-5. Grantsville made 2 critical errors in key situations with runners on base that ended up costing us at least 8 runs. We dug a hole early but were able to battle our way back into the game, but a 5-run 6th inning put it out of reach as Park City tacked on one more run in the 7th. We used 5 pitchers in the 7 inning game, with TJ Sieh & Alex Childs looking sharp in their short stints on the hill. At the plate, Kort Fonger had a good day as he reached base all 4 times with 2 hits and 2 walks. Payeton Reed produced 2 hits including a double and Jake Campbell had a good day at the plate with a double, a walk, and a sacrifice fly. Tyson Hutchins also had a key RBI single to pull the Cowboys to within 6-5.
Next, we are traveling down to St George this weekend hoping for some sunshine and warm weather as we look to improve on our opening day performance.

We want to compliment the Cowboys on being a CLASS ACT. Even thought some may have felt frustrated at the plate, we didn't see any bats or helmets being thrown. THANKS BOYS for representing Grantsville well with your good sportsmanship!
