Juan Diego came to Grantsville and handed the Cowboys their sixth straight defeat 11-0. Grantsville got off to a rough start giving up 7 runs in the top of the first inning and never recovered. After the rough start Alex Childs battled back and threw 2 shut out innings before getting into more trouble in the 4th. Kort Fonger came in and got out of that inning and pitched a scoreless fifth. There were no highlights at the plate for the Cowboys as the only hit recored was an infield single by Alex Childs in the first inning. Alex stole second, but was left stranded as Kort Fonger hit a hard line drive right at the third baseman to end the inning. The only other threat for Grantsville came in the fourth as we drew consecutive walks with 2 outs to put runners on first and second. The inning ended with a strikeout.
As tough as things have been, the good news is the Cowboys season begins next week with a clean slate as league play is scheduled to begin. We are scheduled to travel to Bear River on Tuesday and Morgan on Thursday. It's a big week for us and we could use all the support and help we can get.
