Bear River Drops Cowboys 8-5

The Cowboys took the field for the 4th time this week, but were not able to complete a perfect week as they dropped a 8-5 hard fought game to the Bear River Bears.

Bear River quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Grantsville answered right back in the bottom half on a 3-run home run off the bat of Taylor Matthews. Both teams cooled off until the fifth when the Bears put up 4 runs to take a 7-3 lead. The Cowboys cut the lead to 7-4 in the sixth but then Dyson Morgan hit a lead off home run in the top of the seventh for the Bears to up the lead to 8-4.

The Cowboys threatened in the bottom of the seventh. After cutting the lead to 8-5, Grantsville had 2 on with 1 out. Bear River was able to end the threat by turning a game ending double play.

The loss drops the Cowboys to 2-1 in Region 11 play. They will be back in action next week @ Judge Memorial on Tuesday and then a rematch with the Bears on Thursday at Bear River HS.
