The defensive struggles continued for the Cowboys against the Delta Rabbits. Combine that with their inability to solve the pitching of Ty Church for the 2nd year in a row in the playoffs and the Cowboys bow out of the state tournament with an 8-2 loss.
Lincoln Kelley led the Cowboys offensively with 2 hits. Jake Campbell had the lone extra base hit for Grantsville with a second inning leadoff double and Tyson Hutchins had an rbi single in the 5th inning. Connor Turner had the only other hit in the game for the Cowboys.
Kort Fonger threw well for 4 innings but got very little defensive help and Kellan Rhoades held the Rabbits in check the last 3 innings.
There was one frightening moment in the game for the Cowboys when Kelbey Fisher was hit by a pitch in the face. Fortunately everything is OK for Kelbey although he did need 4 stitches to close the cut in his left cheek.
The loss ends the High School careers for Tyson Hutchins, Taylor Matthews, Jake Campbell, Kort Fonger, & Kellan Rhoades.
