2009 Comes to an End

Our summer season came to a close this past week with a tough 9-8 loss to cross county rival Tooele in the State American Legion Tournament.

All in all 2009 proved to be a very good year for Cowboys Baseball. After a rough start in the pre-season we won the 1st ever Region Championship since moving up to Class 3A. We defeated every team in our league for the 2nd time in 3 years. We got our first ever win @ Bear River. We hosted the first & second rounds of the state playoffs in what was labeled "A Big Day in a Small Town". Unfortunately we lost 2 close games to end our 2009 high school season.

The just completed summer season was extremely successful. With the split coming with the new high school to the east opening up next year it was a key summer season for us. Both our teams had successful seasons with the AA team finishing fourth in the north league and qualifying for the State American Legion Tournament. Many of our players have attended various camps to improve their skills and get their names out there. Our younger players have shown a lot of potential as they look to filled some of the openings in our line up. We will have 3 players competing in a single A regional tournament at Gates Field August 7-12 against teams from Washington, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, & Idaho. It's a great opportunity and experience for them.

Realignment is making Region 11 the toughest 3A league in the state and creates a very challenging task in 2010. We have a tight knit group of kids that makes us look forward to the challenges in the upcoming season. All in all the outlook is bright for COWBOYS BASEBALL as we look towards next spring.

We will be fielding a fall team. Those interested need to pay $65 ASAP. As soon as we get 10 players paid we will enter the league. The scheduled playing dates will be August 29, September 12, 19, 26, October 3 & 10. There will be doubleheaders scheduled on those dates.
